  2. Arrival Time

    Thursday volunteers should arrive at 10:00 AM to unload and set up.

    Friday and Saturday volunteers should arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of their shift for instructions or as listed for specified areas.

  3. Parking

    Please park in the lot reserved for volunteers; follow the signs to the right at Coman gym, parking behind the Smith McDowell House. The lot directly behind the gym is reserved for patient parking.

  4. What to Wear

    Non-Clinical – Casual clothing and very comfortable shoes. Most volunteer jobs require lots of standing and walking. Parking volunteers should be prepared for variable weather conditions.

    Clinical – All those serving in the clinical areas are required by OSHA regulations to wear an approved cover-up (long sleeves, high neck; disposable cover-up will be provided if needed), long pants and enclosed shoes (Athletic shoes are fine but no sandals, open-backed clogs or shoes with cut-outs). A plastic bag for carrying personal cover-up home will be available.

  5. What to Bring

    Patience, flexibility, teamwork, good humor and ability to treat each patient with courtesy and respect.

    For volunteers involved in taking vital signs, please bring your own stethoscope and blood pressure cuff.

    You may bring your own operator stool and personal equipment if you so choose. There will be a drop off point for such items…look for signs indicating "drop off" as you approach the Coman Gym and parking areas off Victoria Road. Your items will be labeled and available in the registration area to take to you work station. At the end of clinic, simply reverse the process.

  6. What NOT to bring

    Please do not bring any valuables to the clinic site; leave them at home, or lock them in the trunk of your car. The NC MOM program/Eblen Charities cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.

  7. On-site check-in

    All volunteers will need to check in at the Volunteer Sign-In table upon arrival at the site. All volunteers will wear a NCMOM Volunteer wristband and a NCMOM nametag.

  8. Food

    Continental breakfast type items, sandwich-type items and water will be available. If you have special dietary requirements, please make your own food arrangements.
